Puddle duck
hunting is done in what we call
impoundments. These are flooded grain
fields with a dike around it to hold the
water to a certain and constant depth.
These fields are planted for waterfowl only.
Crops are usually corn, millet, and rice
with a water depth of 6 to 20 inches.
These shallow water fields are a
Labrador's dream come true. My
lab, Josie, really gets excited when
I get her out of bed at 5AM.
She is always ready and knows where
her place is in the blind. If
you have a dog that is trained and
has good blind manners, please bring
him/her. If he/she is not
trained, please leave them home.
We
have a complete collection of
mounted ducks on display mounted by
our taxidermist. We can
provide his services for you or we
will be glad to have your birds
picked and frozen.
